(CP) - Wayne Middaugh's curling team from Toronto dominated the $150,000 McCain/TSN Skins Game by winning Sunday's final and earning a record $88,000 in prize money. It was the fourth Skins win for Middaugh and he receives an automatic berth into the 2004 event in Bathurst, N.B. Middaugh, lead Scott Bailey, second Joe Frans and third Graeme McCarrel wrapped up Sunday's final against Norway's Pal Trulsen early at the Gimli Curling Club by winning the first six skins. Middaugh made a show-stopper shot in the sixth end for a skin carried over from the fifth worth $18,000. He threw a high-speed rock that bounced off two rocks towards the back of the house, spun back to bump Trulsen's shot rock off the button and score two for the skin. Middaugh clinched the winner's bonus of $20,000 with that shot. "I was fortunate enough to learn under some great teachers, but even more important than that is the three guys in front of me," Middaugh told TSN. "If you noticed in the first four ends of that game, I don't think my team missed. "We got control of the game and I finally made a shot to help them out." Trulsen, the Olympic champion, avoided a shutout by winning the last two skins for $28,000 and a weekend total of $50,500. "We didn't expect that much money and we're never going to play for so much money again," said Trulsen. "This was a great experience." Trulsen had beaten Randy Ferbey's world championship team from Edmonton in Saturday's semifinal. Trulsen won $22,500 to Ferbey's $9,500. Middaugh easily beat Jamie Koe's Calgary team in the other semifinal by winning all skins for $32,000.
