WORLD CURLING FEDERATION AWARDS THE COLIN CAMPBELL AWARD The Colin Campbell Award is presented to the male curler "who best displays the ideals of sportsmanship and skill" during the World Curling Championships. The award was created in honour of Canadian Colin Campbell, who served as president of the International Curling Federation, now known as the World Curling Federation, from 1969 until his death in 1978. His fellow curlers in the tournament make the selection. The award was named after Scotland's Frances Brodie, who helped establish and chaired the first women's world curling championship in 1979 in Perth. Her fellow curlers in the tournament make the selection. The award may be given to curlers or builders (people contributing to the sport outside the ice) and is made annually. Curlers are honoured for world-championship-level playing ability, sportsmanship, character and the achievement of extraordinary distinction in curling. Builders are honoured for distinguished service and major contributions to the development and advancement of curling internationally.
